Incredible fates aligned to find
A bleeding heart that rescued mine.
Complete plug to fill the hole,
Left agape, stories untold.
Seeing all of what has been,
Take a chance to start again.
A goodbye song made to agree.
Dismissal of held misery,
Shed bare and stripped clear
To recognize what I hold dear.
Always, in the end, it comes.
When really, it’s been here all along.
See it now, what I had missed.
A part of me said no to bliss.
Afraid to take a step of faith,
Nothing to lose, but all to gain.
Took that chance, made that choice,
While in return I heard this voice.
Softer, sweeter, kinder than the rest.
Set aside and set apart, made a little nest
Inside my heart. Promised the world
Plus a thousand and one to a girl
Undeserving of it all, but
Searching for why she’s cut
Out for something or someone so
Clearly unbelievable. To go
Ahead and offer everything and
Reach out to lend a hand.
Breathing light where none’s been spread,
Planting hope inside a head
Once forsaken but now held high.
Pondering the time that had gone by
Without your soul to ease the pain,
Forgive mistakes, and hide the blame.
But what of now? Of present where
Impossibility of care
Strikes improbability of life,
Replacing worlds of strife.
Together, mixed and blended
Create a masterpiece that mended
Incredulity to flame.
That came and saw, not the same,
But something surreal.
And at last I finally feel
What it’s like to be alive.
Felt my heart beat at the time
When I thought I heard you say,
Hear it uttered still today,
“Three simple words are true,
I mean it, ‘I love you’.”
